# House Madness

> House Madness is a browser app for drawing your own house, for homeowners planning a loft conversion, an extension or opening up a load-bearing wall. It traces old scanned PDF drawings into walls, models lofts with correct knee walls and measurable floor area, shows what load-bearing walls carry with a planner for replacing a wall with a beam, renders the house live in 3D (including walking through it), fetches the address, property boundary and terrain, and prints permit drawings (site plan, floor plans, section and elevations) to scale. It runs fully in the browser and stores projects locally. It is made in Norway: Norwegian rules (NS 3940 area, TEK17 stairs), Kartverket map data and Norwegian drawing conventions (søknadstegninger) come first; rules and map data for more countries are being added.

Key facts:

- The website is in 10 languages: Norwegian (nb), English (en), Swedish (sv), Danish (da), Finnish (fi), German (de), Dutch (nl), Spanish (es), Italian (it), Polish (pl). Norwegian (bokmål) is at the root, every other language under its code (/en/, /de/, …). The app is at /app/.
- Free for one whole house with every floor and every tool, no card needed. Printing to scale and more houses need the Pluss plan. Each market pays in its own currency (NOK, SEK, DKK, EUR, PLN).
- Projects are stored in the browser (IndexedDB), not on a server. An account is only needed for paid plans and the AI assistant.
- Address, boundary and terrain lookups cover Norway today. Area rules and drawing conventions follow Norway today, with more countries on the way.
- Structural figures (loads, beam sizes, work orders) are rough estimates. A structural engineer must verify any change to the load-bearing structure. House Madness does not replace an architect, a structural engineer or a responsible applicant.
- The AI assistant (say what to change, see it as a grey suggestion, accept or discard) is in early access: first as a chat in the app, then with voice.
- Articles (guides and comparisons) are about Norwegian rules and are in Norwegian and English only.
